Pregnancy Portraits

Demi Moore's beautiful Vanity Fair photos by Annie Leibovitz made it fashionable to be be photographed during pregnancy.

A new addition to the family is a life changing event, especially if it is your first baby. After the birth of our daughter, I remember leaving the hospital with my wife thinking, 'Strange, two go in and three come out'. After that, life was never the same again.

Pregnancy brings amazing changes to your body. True, that some of them are not much fun and glamorous, but you have probably never looked more alive, glowing and happy.

A pregnancy photo shoot is a fabulous way to capture the fleeting beauty of nature creating a new life inside you.

You will adore the results of your session. The pregnancy photos will capture the striking beauty of pregnancy. They will be treasured forever by you and future generations of your family.

" As an african woman, I was impressed with Kristina because she understood how to photograph black skin. The shoot was fun because she really focused on the maternity. She made photos that were fairly discreet but at the same time revealed the shape of my body. – Linn, London

DIY Makeup & Hair

If you are on a strict budget you are welcome to do your own makeup and hair styling at our studios before your photo shoot.

Top tips are to apply your makeup 30% heavier than normal. This will avoid a washed out look under professional studio lights. Another top tip is to use matte formulated makeup. This will avoid excessive shine in the final results.

It is best to arrive at the studio with you hair ready styled. A tried and tested style is good, something which you know will suit you.

For absolutely stunning results, use our professional makeup artist.

What to Wear

Get the most from your shoot

Colours - Strong solid colours work well. Avoid flesh coloured fabrics. Avoid fussy, patterned clothing

Fabrics - Thin clingy, partially see through, not necessarily tight, fabrics with a little stretch. Swaths of fabric in powerful colours like purple, red and royal blue can make for stunning results.

Bath Robes - large, brightly coloured bathrobes can look great in photos.

Togas - Bed sheets can be used to create togas which can look very effectively emphasis your shape. Bring in different colours if you have them.

Wedding Veils - Look fantastic and can help with those discrete, sensual nude photos.

Trousers - jeans, black yoga or lycra running bottoms work well.

Dresses - these can be incredibly sophisticated and sexy. Dresses that cling to your shape, not the loose, comfortable style.

Tops - Man's shirt, large and white. Any shirt or cardigan that opens down the front works well. See more examples of what to wear for a maternity photography session.

Sleeves - Long-sleeved shirts tend to be the most flattering depending on the type of arms you have. Sleeveless and spaghetti straps also work.

Tanks or camisoles - anything clingy, fitted or stretchy in solid colours

Jewelry  - Over large pieces are distracting and generally best avoided unless there is a good reason for keeping the piece in. Small and tasteful pieces like pearl or diamond studs make sense and are totally appropriate.

Don't wear anything binding - Bras with underwires, ribbed socks and hair bands on your wrist will cause marks on you skin and should be avoided.
